Thank you for booking to stay with us at Scarisbrick Guide Campsite
Please find below some information which we hope will help you plan and enjoy your visit to the site.
Pre – Arrival:
A member of our camp team will contact you before your event to confirm your arrival time and will be on site to greet you and get you settled in when you arrive.
Car Parking:
- Leader’s cars only should be driven down onto the site and parked in the car park behind the barn. Please don’t drive vehicles onto the camping fields as this can damage the drainage system.
- All group participants should be dropped off outside the campsite gates and walk down the drive, with their luggage, to your allocated site. Please ask all parents to abide by this request for safety reasons.
Arrival:
- You will be met on site by a member of our camp team who will open up the buildings you have booked and provide you with any equipment & access codes you require for your stay. She may not be on site throughout your stay but if you need to contact her, her number will be on display in the bottom of the barn.
Emergencies:
- Mobile phone signals on site can be poor so there is a landline in the bottom of the barn for emergency calls only.
- The address of the site for emergency vehicles is: Scarisbrick Guide Campsite, Southport Road. L40 9RQ.
- The nearest hospitals are:
* Childrens A&E; 8.00am – midnight. Ormskirk & District General Hospital, Wigan Road, Ormskirk L39 2AZ. Tel: 01695 656318
* Adult A&E; Southport & Formby District Hospital, Town Lane, Southport. PR8 6PN. Tel: 01704 704128 / 704437
- The Barn & MPH are fitted with fire alarms. In the event of a FIRE, please make your way to the car park at the top of the site and ring 999. Please also ring the member of the camp team who let you onto the site.
- There are fire blankets in each hut and fire extinguishers in the Barn & MPH.
- If you call 999 during the night you will need to send someone to open the school & campsite gates – the code to the school gate is 84110. We will let you know if this changes
- There is a defibrillator on site, outside the Margaret Pilkington Hall. The code to open it is C159X,
Toilets:
- Please clean and brush out your toilet block before you leave site.
- Toilet rolls will be in each toilet on arrival but you will need to bring your own supply with you for the remainder of your stay. We are on a septic tank so please use plain toilet paper (non-perfumed and non-quilted).
- Sanitary bins are provided in each cubicle, please empty these on departure.
- Toilet cleaner will be available in each toilet block.
Washrooms & Showers:
These are for the use of all on site, on arrival the camp team will tell you who else is using them and between you, you can decide when your group can access them and who cleans what at the end of you stay.
Fridges & Freezers:
These are available in the bottom of the barn for all users of the site. If the campsite is busy, you will be allocated a section in a fridge, please ensure your leaders and participants know which section is yours and store your food safely to avoid contaminating food belonging to others in the fridges.
Food Deliveries:
Online shopping can be ordered and delivered to the site. Tesco & Asda are frequent visitors but we are sure other supermarkets will deliver as well. You may need to give additional directions to enable them to find you
e.g. “Off the main drive to Scarisbrick Hall School from the A570” and the postcode L40 9RQ.
Water:
There is a water tap on each site. We are on a water metre so please use water sparingly where possible.
Rubbish Disposal:
- There is a green skip in the bin compound at the top of the drive for general rubbish.
- We do not have any recycling facilities on site so please consider taking your recycling home to help the environment and save taking up too much space in the skip.
- If you can burn any paper rubbish & food waste that would be appreciated.
Wood Fires:
- These are allowed on site but please only light fires in designated areas.
- There are brick fireplaces on each camping field and 3 campfire areas on site.
- There is plenty of wood lying around in the woods to burn, on arrival you will find some wood in the wood store by your fireplace, please ensure this is left full on departure for the next group.
- Please leave all fire places clear of ash and fire debris on departure. Cold ashes can be put in a bin bag in the skip in the bin compound at the entrance to the site.
Security:
- We would prefer you not to leave your site unattended for any length of time.
- Please close the gate to the campsite overnight
- Please don’t give out access codes to others
- Please deter parents from coming on site – ask them to drop off and collect children from the car park where possible
Ditches:
- The ditches around the site have an important role to play in keeping the camping fields drained. Please ensure children don’t block them with logs and other items.
No Smoking:
- We are a No Smoking site. Please ask anyone who smokes to do so at the top of the drive away from all site users.
No Dogs:
- We do not allow dogs onto the site.

Working Days:
The campsite is run totally by volunteers, and we are always looking for people to help us with various jobs on site. We run 2 working day events each year (one in March & one in October) when we carry out cleaning & maintenance jobs on site. If you or some of your unit would be interested in joining us on one of these days, we would love to welcome you. We have jobs for all abilities and lunch is provided. Campsite badges:
- We do have a small shop on site selling sweets, toys & souvenirs which you can book to be opened during your stay.
- We stock campsite badges at £1.00 each. If you would like to purchase badges for your group and not use the shop, please ask a member of the camp team who will be able to get them for you. Cash & cheque payments only.
Onsite Activities:
Archery, Play areas, Pedal Karts, Zip Line, Pioneering poles, Assorted games equipment etc,
